According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has given a pilot order to the untitled X-Men TV show created by Burn Notice’s Matt Nix that has been in the works since July. All we know about the project currently is that it concerns two non-mutant parents living in the X-Men universe who discover that their child has mutant powers. And as so often happens within that universe, this forces them to “go on the run from a hostile government” and join up with “an underground network of mutants.”
Nix has proclaimed himself a “diehard” fan of the X-Men, and he’ll both write the pilot script and act as showrunner should it progress to series. Also, unlike the other X-Men TV show—Noah Hawley’s Legion on FX—this one will definitely take place in a world that is clearly consistent with the movies, especially with Bryan Singer acting as one of the executive producers. Nix further avows that any fan of the X-Men movies “would not be disoriented at all as to where this fits in the mythology.”
