Ryan Murphy will extract another season from the corpse of American Horror Story

The long-running horror anthology might not make sense to its actors, but its creator is moving forward with season 14.

Ryan Murphy will extract another season from the corpse of American Horror Story

Though star Jessica Lange might have no idea what the star-studded 13th season of American Horror Story is about, FX, Hulu, and Ryan Murphy are going to let the scary and confusing times roll. Earlier today, FX announced that American Horror Story would enjoy yet another season of  Murphy torturing legendary actresses with nonsensical plotting and campy scares.

After 15 years on the air, AHS still does well with viewers, who can’t seem to say no to Murphy, even when he makes something like All’s Fair. But despite AHS and Monster falling out of the zeitgeist a bit, FX says the 13th season set a record for the series’ biggest streaming premiere ever and Murphy’s biggest premiere on Hulu and Disney+. It’s not entirely unsurprising, considering AHS: 13 brought back many stars from previous seasons to reprise roles and investigate the frightful math behind the number 13.

This season of American Horror Story features a murderers’ row of returning stars, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, Joey Pollari, and Jessica Lange—not to mention guest stars John Carroll Lynch, Tig Notaro, Orlando Jones, Madelaine Petsch, and John Waters. Not all of those stars have had a great time. When she’s not complaining about FX’s car-service stinginess, Jessica Lange raved about this season’s plot, describing it as “what that is, I’m not sure.”

There are still three episodes of AHS: 13, including two this Thursday and an October 29 finale on FX and Hulu.
