George R.R. Martin signs deal to create new shows for HBO, since it's not like there's anything else he should be creating right now

Clearly enjoying the way this whole Game Of Thrones thing has panned out and not wishing to see it end any time soon, HBO has signed George R.R. Martin to develop new shows for the network, ensuring he’ll be far too busy to wrap up the fantasy saga for a nice, long while. Under his two-year overall deal, Martin will stay on as executive producer and occasional writer for Game Of Thrones for the foreseeable future, while also using those two years to come up with new things—or, in George R.R. Martin time, around 60 pages of a new thing. Martin’s prior TV credits include episodes for the 1980s versions of The Twilight Zone and Beauty And The Beast, which he should be wrapping up any day now. He takes a long time to write things.
