George R.R. Martin to host free screenings of every Game Of Thrones episode instead of working on next book

After turning out the first three books of his Song Of Ice And Fire series at a fairly rapid clip, then waiting first five years, then six, between the next two installments, Game Of Thrones fans have become frustrated with the waits between George R.R. Martin's books, loudly criticizing the author if he takes time away from writing for frivolous distractions. Like sleeping. Or eating. Or the time A Dance With Dragons reportedly suffered a lengthy delay because Martin "got really into Lost."

So those same fans will probably be aghast to see that Martin will be taking several hours of out his Monday nights to screen every single episode of the first three seasons of Game Of Thrones. From January 6 through March 24, Martin will be screening two or three episodes at a time, at the Jean Cocteau Cinema movie theater he owns in Santa Fe. HBO has not yet announced a date for the premiere of season four, but presumably the first episode will air shortly after Martin's series of screenings ends.

The screenings will be free, with seating on a first-come-first-serve basis, and will include appearances by Martin and, via Skype, members of the cast and crew. Martin will field questions from the crowd at each screening, including, "When is the next book coming out?", and "How far into writing the next book are you?", and "Shouldn't you be writing the next book right now?"
