“Smack My Bitch Up,” the once-incendiary dance hit by ‘90s electro-industrial icons, The Prodigy has been synced in films over the decades since its release for everything from car chase scenes to break dance contests. Recently, Las Vegas-based video editor Robert Jones used the track for his newest supercut, Movie Fight Tribute: Part 2, composed ever so appropriately of clips from 82 fight scenes from movies across the dramatic range. In a follow-up to part one of his series (the first iteration featuring “Kick Start My Heart” by Mötley Crüe as the musical accompaniment), Jones has brilliantly spliced together footage of knock-down-drag-outs between classic arch enemies from Kill Bill, The Terminator, Rocky, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, every single Jackie Chan movie ever made, and many many more. The result is a dazzling array of villains and heroes alike from decades of pop culture, kicking ass and getting their asses kicked, all perfectly timed to the drops and swells of the track. Though the concept could come off as gimmicky, Jones executes it with such deftness and vision that one can’t help but be extremely impressed with the outcome. The last time the song was put to such good use was when the original music video was made.
