Many have lamented the way that Glee transformed in its second season into some sort of Karaoke Circus Of The Stars, with flimsy storylines constructed simply to wedge in high-profile cameos, and create musical tributes to whatever artist had granted the show the rights to their songs most recently. And while those people are really only saying that they want to take away arts education from schoolchildren, creator Ryan Murphy apparently agrees with them, as he’s promised TV Line that in the upcoming third season, “We’re not going to have any guest stars.” That’s because Murphy also promises that Glee’s year three—which will culminate in the seniors’ graduation, and the introduction of a whole new crop of musical emoters—is all about “character, character, character,” which means that ultimately, “We’re going to do fewer songs.” And yes, that means “there’ll only be one musical tribute episode… It’s one I’ve been working on for two years—it took forever to clear—with a really big artist.” Philip Glass???
