Prime Video offers visual proof of God Of War series

Prime Video’s God Of War series is inching closer, and there’s a photo to prove it. The streamer announced this morning that the series has officially begun production, and shared an image of Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson in character as Kratos and Atreus, respectively.

“The God of War series storyline follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye,” reads the series official logline. “Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”

This God Of War adaptation has had a long adventure of its own to get to this point. Prime Video first teases the series back in 2022. In October 2024, we reported that multiple scripts for the series had already been junked and that the series had parted ways with showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. Ronald D. Moore now serves as showrunner after stints on Battlestar Galactica and Outlander. Mandy Patinkin will also star in the series as Odin, along with the recently announced Ed Skrein as Baldur, and Max Parker as Heimdall and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor.
