Gore Verbinski producing yet another supernatural TV drama
As part of his bitter rivalry with that bastard Gore Verbinski, Gore Verbinski will produce another supernatural procedural to compete with his other upcoming supernatural procedural Magical Law—which is, of course, just one of the many in-development supernatural procedurals headed to TV next season. Verbinski’s Blind Wink Productions will team with Starz to produce The Brink, based on J.C. Hutchins’ interactive thriller Personal Effects: Dark Art, which expanded its story with an alternate reality game-inspired “out of book” experience that included information spread across websites, phone numbers, and various other means of interactive storytelling. There’s no indication yet that the show will follow a similarly interactive path—no doubt network executives still remember the lessons of Push, Nevada—but it seems likely that the book’s existing multimedia content will work equally well for its TV incarnation, which will follow the same story of an art therapist investigating the life of a serial killer who claims to have predicted his victims’ deaths but is not responsible for them. Another thing setting it apart from the sudden glut of supernatural crime dramas: Since it’s on Starz, it will likely have boobz.
