Pete Hegseth’s war fighters aren’t doing particularly well these days. Between the near-constant criticism from the self-proclaimed Secretary of War and the sailors aboard the U.S.S. Lincoln, where thousands are reportedly facing abysmal living conditions and mental health crises, the few and the proud stand to become even fewer amid an ongoing war with Iran and depleted munitions. However, in an effort to make sure those still in the army continue to be all that they can be, per Variety, the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia, is offering soldiers four days off to play GTA 6 if—and this is a big if—they agree to reenlist for at least another two years between August 1 and August 14. “The idea was to have a unique incentives program that connects to what soldiers are interested in,” Lt. Col. Angel Tomko, spokesperson for the 3rd Infantry Division, said in a statement. “Reenlistment incentives are routine for the U.S. Army,” he continues, and this particular incentive is simple: Risk your life for between two and six years in exchange for less than a week of video game bliss. 

The U.S. Army is no stranger to using video games as a recruitment tool.
