HBO renews Veep for a third season

Threatening to bankrupt our nation of all its pun resources, HBO has renewed Veep for a third season, bringing the Armando Iannuci-created political sitcom back for 10 more episodes next year. The show starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a U.S. Vice President who’s regarded as something of a joke—this being total fiction—has been pulling series-high numbers of late, no doubt helped by its Game Of Thrones lead-in and the fact that it similarly attracts fantasy audiences with a rich, imaginary world where politicians behave like human beings and actually try to do stuff. If Veep continues to be renewed beyond that, expect the show known for its creative insults and witty portmanteaus to be reduced to people calling each other things like “Senator Fartface,” because there’s only so much.
