Apparently, there are claims moving through the music press this week that Oasis has begun organizing opening bands for a planned reunion tour. Most notable among the names being bandied about: Ride, which features former Oasis bassist Andy Bell as one of its founding members. Meanwhile, odds-makers have reportedly stopped taking money on when the band might reform, which seems as strong a point as any in favor of a reunion some time soon.
Mat Whitecross, the director of the recent Oasis documentary, Supersonic, did express a word of caution about jumping on the hype train too soon, though: “The tricky thing is, the more people put pressure on them, the less likely it is to happen,” he said. He also noted that, “They’re both rich men. They don’t have to be chasing the opportunity to try and get back together. So hopefully if they do come back, it’ll be for the right reasons, and because they both want to do it.”
Oasis broke up in 2009. Most of its members (including Liam Gallagher) went on to perform in Beady Eye, while Noel Gallagher performs as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
