"King Of All Media" Howard Stern expands his domain to HBO Max

But Stern fans’ have something to call in and shout “bababooey” about today, as Stern has just signed with HBO Max for a weekly streaming version of his radio show, starting September 17. The show, which will stream every Thursday at 12:01 p.m. ET, is basically just a filmed version of his once-weekly live Sirius show with, as HBO’s press release states, “periodic extras.” 

As for that once-a-week schedule, Stern’s Sirius deal will involve cutting his Sirius show back to one live episode per week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And while that’s not a lot of new weekly content, Stern and HBO are no doubt hoping the opportunity to watch the 72-year-old Stern and cohorts Robin Quivers, Fred Norris, and Gary Dell’Abate make high-profile guests uncomfortable in the flesh will make up for it. 

Touting the deal, the self-proclaimed “King Of All Media” stated, “HBO convinced me to pull back the curtain and let the world watch; the amazing celebrities and musicians who drop by, our staff antics, and my conversations with Robin. Bringing my latest SiriusXM shows to HBO Max’s millions of viewers, every week, is a career highlight, and I’m thrilled to be joining the ranks of such prestigious television.”
