Dust off your cowboy hats and shine up your boots because Hurray For The Riff Raff has some exciting new announcements. The band, led by folk-rocker Alynda Segarra, just released a new single and accompanying music video as a followup to their 2024 album, The Past Is Still Alive. The new track, “Pyramid Scheme,” embodies the album’s bold and self-assured spirit even just in its first line. “This is not a scene/It’s a pyramid scheme,” Segarra sings. It’s bold to start a song with any variation of “This ain’t a scene” that doesn’t end with “it’s a goddamn arms race ” à la 2007 Fall Out Boy, but Segarra completely pulls it off.

The folky track itself is about the alienating effect the internet can have on artists and outsiders. “Darby Crash and the iconoclasts and Frida Kahlo in a black ski mask/We all rode into your virtual town with the intention just of burning it down,” Segarra sings.

The band also announced a handful of new U.S. tour dates with support from fellow indie-folk artist Merce Lemon. The new dates follow a run with Bright Eyes that kicks off next week, and additional dates with MJ Lenderman and Waxahatchee throughout the summer. Ticket presale begins at 11 a.m. local time today (password: pyramidscheme), and general on-sale opens at 10 a.m. local time tomorrow. Check out the full schedule below:
