Yesterday, director James Wan debuted a new Aquaman poster on his Twitter account, and today he’s dropped a whopping five minutes of footage from his upcoming addition to the DC universe. In it, Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry recounts his lineage, cracks wise, and shoves a submarine to safety. He also dons the character’s signature green and orange in the first look at Wan’s interpretation of the iconic (?) costume. We also spend some quality time with co-stars Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, and Nicole Kidman, as well as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta, who’s downright Juggernautian in his desire to smash through walls. The CGI looks spotty, but the subaquatic vistas carry their own kind of dreamy grandeur.

Aquaman opens the floodgates on December 21.
