Lucha Underground renewed for second season of acrobatic ass-kicking
Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha Underground, the torta de jamón Mexicana to the WWE’s ham-and-cheese sandwich, has been renewed for a second season, according to Deadline. The series, described as “arguably the best wrestling show on television” by The A.V. Club’s LaToya Ferguson in her review of the season-one finale last month, introduces the high-flying moves and flamboyant costuming of lucha libre to American TV audiences (along with the relationship drama and blood feuds, because that’s half the fun). The second season of Lucha Underground is set to film in the Boyle Heights area of L.A. at the end of this year, and will air on Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey network in early 2016.
