The realities of streaming keep us from knowing how well the series is doing, ratings-wise, but The Pitt has made a strong impression on critics: Our own Laura Bogart has written about the ways the show adopts the familiar beats of the medical procedural to a more robust and realistic pace, while praising Wyle for giving a lived-in performance as the veteran doctor around whom the chaos revolves. Max, certainly, sounds happy enough: An exec for the streaming service gave a statement today praising the show and its various creatives, saying, “It’s been a thrill to watch audiences embrace The Pitt as an update to procedural storytelling with a cast who authentically embody the heroics of doctors and nurses on shift in a 2025 emergency room.” (Translated: A lot of people are watching this, and the reviews are decent-to-good.) It probably doesn’t hurt that the series has a built-in hook for a second season already ready to go: Just pick another arduous day in the ER, set the clock to ticking, and let the hourly episodes roll.
In addition to Wyle, The Pitt also stars Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez. The show’s first season is set to air its finale, featuring a presumably very-tired-at-this-point Wyle, on April 10.
