NBC orders a comedy pilot about a supernatural town
NBC has ordered a pilot of Strange Calls, a half-hour comedy from Cougar Town executive producer Blake McCormick about a police officer who’s transferred to a rural town. Once he’s there, he soon realizes that the entire place is a hotbed of supernatural activity, which he begins to investigate with the help of the town’s elderly nightwatchman.
The project marks McCormicks’ second pilot pick-up for the 2015-2016 development cycle alongside CBS’s Rush Hour, which he will executive produce along with his Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence. But if we’re playing favorites based on having no actual knowledge of these shows, Strange Calls sounds like more fun, if only because of the small chance that it will feature a group of ghosts playing Penny Can (“Penny Can!”).
