It’s tough to say what actually made Kevin James the king of New York’s Queens borough on The King Of Queens TV show, but now Nicki Minaj actually has a more legitimate claim to the throne than he ever did. As reported by Noisey, Minaj was recently presented with the official Key To The City by Queens borough president Melinda Katz, and though it’s unclear what other powers the key gives her, it’s definitely more than James’ delivery driver had on the TV show. Either way, it’s a big honor for Minaj, who moved to Queens after her family left Trinidad and Tobago when she was five. She even tweeted a photo of the key:
Whether Minaj is now the Queen Of Queens or not, it’s hard to deny that she would be a benevolent ruler. Earlier this year, she began paying off her fans’ student loans and other school expenses, and then reports came out that she has been funding schools and clean water for a village in India. All Kevin James’ character ever did was hang out with Patton Oswalt and complain about living with Jerry Stiller.
