The cast is also expanding as Gabriel García Márquez’s story blossoms outward through generations of Buendías in the second half of the story. Marleyda Soto and Claudio Cataño are both on board to reprise their roles as Úrsula Iguarán and Colonel Aureliano Buendía. They’ll be joined by Ángela Cano, Emmanuel Restrepo, Estefanía Piñeres, María Adelaida Puerta, Emiliano Pernía, Juanita Molina, Laura Taylor, Obeida Benavides, Julián Román, Carla Baratta, and more.
“With this series we pay tribute to the legacy of Gabriel García Márquez and to Colombia and its extraordinary talent,” said Francisco Ramos, Netflix’s Vice President of Content for Latin America, in a statement. “I express my appreciation for Laura Mora’s work, whose rigor and passion have been fundamental in this journey, and who is now joined by Carlos Moreno, a remarkable Colombian filmmaker and Netflix partner. We are in the best hands to carry the Buendía’s story to a successful conclusion.”
Season one of One Hundred Years Of Solitude ended in death and war arriving in Macondo. Readers of Márquez’s 1967 masterpiece will know that there’s no great catharsis coming in season two, but a very worthy conclusion to the family’s decades-long saga. Netflix has not announced a premiere date as of this writing, but there’s a lot of ground still left to cover. We likely won’t see the series’ final eight episodes until sometime in 2026.
