People Still Buy Music: A lot of people still really like Fall Out Boy

Proving that a brief absence only makes the heart grow fonder, Fall Out Boy has grabbed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts this week with its new post-hiatus record, Save Rock And Roll. The album sold 154,000 copies—which isn’t the band’s biggest sales week ever, but it was enough to push Kid Cudi to second place, with 136,000 copies of Indicud sold. Fall Out Boy also knocked out last week’s No. 1 record, Paramore’s Paramore, which sold just 27,000 copies in its second week, falling to No. 12.

Elsewhere, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience continues to do well, holding down third place with 76,000 sold, while The Voice coach Blake Shelton came in fourth with 42,000. And Yeah Yeah Yeahs nabbed their first Top 10 spot ever, coming in at No. 5 with 38,000 copies of Mosquito. (Of course, Show Your Bones sold 56,000 copies when it came out in 2006, but this was a different, higher-stakes time.)

Over on the singles chart, Daft Punk made its own big return, landing a No. 10 with 113,000 copies of “Get Lucky.” That’s especially impressive considering the track just came out on Friday, giving it a mere three days to rack up such big numbers. And the No. 1 single remains Pink’s “Just Give Me A Reason,” which features Fun’s Nate Ruess and moved 262,000 copies last week.
