Pixar's Up gets sent back in time 50 years
Ivan Guerro has been mining old celluloid in service of “premake” movie trailers for a while now, sending films like Raiders Of The Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, and Forrest Gump back a few decades in cinema history, but his latest clip may be his masterpiece. Reimagining the Pixar favorite Up as a 1960s Disney live-action adventure in the mold of The Love Bug and The Absent-Minded Professor, starring Spencer Tracy and Kirk Douglas, Guerro’s Up pastes together two dozen old films to create a seamless trailer for a movie your parents wish they got to watch when they were little. Check it:
If you like to play Spot-The-Reference, Guerro lists the “recipe” of films that went into this trailer in the clip’s description. They are:
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, *batteries not included, The Red Balloon, Superman, The Wizard of Oz, The Muppet Movie, Follow Me Boys, Mackenna's Gold, Benji, A Boy and His Dog, Mysterious Island, The Doberman Gang, The Alvin Show, Posse, One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing, The Island at the Top of the World, Zeppellin, Stephen King's It, Hollywood Hotel, Jonny Quest, Peter Pan's Flight, Habanera from Carmen, Always
