Where the hell is Charlie Cale? It’s a question that both her various enemies and legion of fans have been asking. It’s been over a year since the premiere of Poker Face starring Natasha Lyonne, but the human lie detector’s “crime solving existential road trip”—in the words of Lyonne and series creator Rian Johnson—is set to return to screens soon. On Tuesday, Peacock shared a Poker Face season two first look ahead of the show’s return, which is set for Spring 2025.

In a press release, Lyonne and Johnson revealed that the new season draws “visual inspiration from American 70s cinema, all the stuff we love like Robert Altman, Bob Rafelson, Peter Bogdanovich.” However, “the backbone of this show is TV – the kind of TV we grew up watching, episodic case of the week gems like Columbo and The Rockford Files and Quantum Leap,” they said in their statement. “Each episode is a mini movie, existing in its own world with a unique tone and vibe, featuring an eccentric lot of characters played by a truly gonzo parade of guest stars. We still can’t believe we got to work with rockstars like Cynthia Erivo, Katie Holmes, John Mulaney, and Awkwafina (and many many more, the list is kinda dizzying) who all dove into the game with joy and came ready to play.”

Speaking of dizzying, the Poker Face season two first look teases a trio of Cynthias Erivo with incredibly disparate senses of style. John Mulaney, meanwhile, looks the way John Mulaney usually looks in a dress shirt and tie and his now slightly shaggy hair. Much like the first season, the second season includes an incredible list of guest stars, including Academy Award nominees and Wicked alumni. (Okay, that only describes Erivo and former Madame Morrible Carol Kane.) But the second season has a leg up on the first with an additional two episodes, bringing the total to 12. Hopefully that’s enough to tide over the folks who have been eagerly awaiting Charlie’s return!
