Potentially not-so-good news, everyone: Futurama has been canceled again
In keeping with its habit of revisiting the events of earlier timelines and making you sad, Futurama has been canceled again, with Comedy Central announcing that it has decided not to pick up any further new episodes. The series’ seventh season will close out its run with 13 episodes beginning in June 19, and then that’s it—though given its past cancellations, neither creator Matt Groening nor producer David X. Cohen were surprised by the news, nor convinced that this means they will stop. “I felt like we were already in the bonus round on these last couple of seasons, so I can’t say I was devastated by the news,” Cohen told Entertainment Weekly, alluding to the way the show was first dropped by Fox, then bounced back three times in Adult Swim reruns, direct-to-DVD movies, and finally, 52 more episodes on Comedy Central.
