Sarah Paulson’s no stranger to Emmy nominations—she’s picked up an Outstanding Lead or Supporting Actress nod every year since 2012. But 2016 was a banner year for the Ryan Murphy-series stalwart, as she became a “double nominee” this year: Paulson is being recognized for her supporting work on American Horror Story: Hotel as well as the powerful, conflicted performance she gave as chief prosecutor Marcia Clark in FX’s American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson. Paulson’s hasn’t nabbed a statuette yet, but since this could very well be the year she goes home with one in each hand, she’s called in reinforcements.
Access Hollywood reports that Paulson’s taking the real Clark to the Emmys ceremony on September 18. Clark, who now spends her days writing legal thrillers instead of being in one, did watch the limited series, which she believes presented an accurate depiction of the infamous trial. The lawyer-turned-author told Larry King back in March that’s what she found “so amazing to me. I didn’t [expect that]. They got the big issue so right that it’s painful to watch.” But enough time’s passed for Clark to brave the big crowds again, and she told Access Hollywood that she “was incredibly honored that Sarah asked me to go with her to the Emmys. It will be my privilege to be there to cheer her on.”
