Saturday Night Live has fired Brooks Wheelan
NBC’s Saturday Night Live has been in a bit of a rebuilding period ever since mainstays Kristen Wiig, Seth Myers, and Fred Armisen began to leave for the greener pastures of Hollywood, talk show hosting, and talk show band leading.
Now, one of the show’s latest additions won’t be returning to SNL either. Comedian Brooks Wheelan had only just joined the cast for its most recent season, but he revealed on Twitter earlier this evening that he has been fired from the show.
That is a pretty solid joke, so it would be forgivable to think that Wheelan was just having some good old-fashioned Twitter fun, but he confirmed the news to The A.V. Club in an e-mail. We don’t know why SNL chose to let go of Wheelan—and we probably never will—but it’s always disappointing when a performer has to leave a show like this so quickly. At least Kenan will always be there, right? Nobody can ever take Kenan away from us.
