It's been well over a decade since Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro teamed up in Casino, but they're looking to renew their famed collaboration with an adaptation of Charles Brandt's book I Heard You Paint Houses, the story of a mob assassin who may have had some involvement in Jimmy Hoffa's disappearance. Scripted by Steven Zaillian, who also co-wrote Gangs Of New York for Scorsese, the film will star De Niro as Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran, a hitman responsible for upwards of 25 murders, including the claim made to Brandt that he killed and dismembered Hoffa. The project couldn't come along at a better time for De Niro, who may be (or should be) looking for redemption after appearing in such recent dogs as 15 Minutes, Shark Tale, Showtime, and Righteous Kill. It's unclear when Scorsese will be able to slot the film in his schedule, however. He's currently putting the finishing touches on his adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Shutter Island, and has several other projects in the pipeline. More details can be found here.
