Starship’s Grace Slick took Chick-Fil-A’s money, gave it to an LGBT group

Recently, Chick-Fil-A released a new set of ads that featured cows using virtual reality technology to convince people that they should eat chickens for some reason, and it was set to “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship. As fast food fans surely know, Chick-Fil-A has a history of supporting anti-gay organizations, so former Starship singer Grace Slick has come forward to explain why she would allow her music to be used in this way. As it turns out, Slick doesn’t support Chick-Fil-A’s bigoted policies, she just thought it would be cool to take the company’s money and do something good with it.

Slick has written a piece for Forbes explaining her decision, and it turns out that she donated the money she got from Chick-Fil-A to Lambda Legal, the country’s biggest legal organization that works to protect the rights of LGBT people and those living with HIV. Slick recoginzes that her donation is “not the millions” that Chick-Fil-A gives to anti-gay groups, but she figured that doing this was better than turning down the offer and missing an opportunity to “spend the cash in direct opposition” to the company’s awful beliefs.
