Steven Soderbergh will not retire until he makes Channing Tatum's male stripper movie

Although Steven Soderbergh has been talking up plans to retire from filmmaking once his adaptations of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and his Liberace biopic are through, he’s now decided that he can’t in good conscience leave the world of movies behind until he helps Channing Tatum tell his male stripper story. Soderbergh himself has announced that he will also make room for Magic Mike, which will find Tatum playing a loosely autobiographical role based on his own experiences as a teenage stripper and find him mentoring another, younger man in the ways of separating bachelorette parties from their dollars. According to Soderbergh, he simply couldn’t resist, as he “thought it was one of the best ideas I'd ever heard for a movie” and plans to model it after Saturday Night Fever—which, if you’re going to make a homoerotic dance movie, seems like a pretty good start.
