Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Meryl Streep team up to win all the Oscars

La La Land may have been pretty controversial when it was getting all of the Best Picture buzz leading up to the Academy Awards—and for the minute or so that it was the Best Picture winner—but nobody’s going to have a hard time getting on board with future Academy Award favorite The Post. According to Deadline, the movie is being directed by Steven Spielberg, and it will star Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep as Washington Post editor and publisher Ben Bradlee and Kay Graham as they fight against the federal government for the right to publish the Pentagon Papers in 1971.

For those who don’t follow history, Tom Hanks is the guy from Big, Meryl Streep is the woman from The Devil Wears Prada, and the Pentagon Papers was the name given to an account of the way the United States had secretly fucked up the Vietnam War. The government tried to stop The Washington Post and other papers from publishing information from the Pentagon Papers, prompting a Supreme Court battle over freedom of the press. That means this movie will be a historical drama about an issue with modern-day relevance, it will star two of the most beloved actors of all time, and it’s being directed by one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.

The Deadline story doesn’t have a release date for The Post yet, but maybe they’ll just skip the Oscars whenever the movie comes out and mail all of the statues to the principals instead.
