Supergroup Prophets Of Rage announces tour, including rabble-rousing at the RNC
Back in May, some rumblings about Rage Against The Machine being up to something turned out to be the reveal of a new supergroup called Prophets of Rage that features RATM’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk alongside Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real. The group made its live debut at Los Angeles’ Whisky A Go Go last week, and now—as reported by Stereogum—it has announced its first proper tour. Before Prophets Of Rage gets down to business, though, it’s going to indulge in some good, old-fashioned rabble-rousing during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
That comes from Bloomberg Politics (via Variety), which interviewed Prophets Of Rage before its LA show. Morello—who wears a “Make America Rage Again” hat in the clip—says that the RNC will be “a perfect place for a band like Prophets Of Rage to cause a ruckus,” adding that they’ll “be there in the streets, in the fields” playing at “spontaneous venues” and “rocking furiously in and around” the RNC. Basically, Morello and his pals are going to tear some shit up.
You can see Prophets’ interview below, with the tour dates below that.
