Last year’s Cannes Festival was absolutely rocked by the revelation that Terrence Malick would not complete The Tree Of Life in time to screen there, despite the factory-like expediency that’s earned him the nickname “The McDonald’s of Film.” But by way of consolation, Variety has officially confirmed that it will premiere at this year’s Cannes instead, though it likely won’t be announced until April 14 whether it will screen in competition. In the meantime, let’s all watch the trailer again, then go outside and stare poignantly at some plants for a while.
