The Directors Guild gave even more awards to La La Land and Game Of Thrones
Today may be Big Game Sunday, but the Atlanta Falcons aren’t the only ones getting trophies this weekend. Last night, the Directors Guild Of America held its annual DGA Awards event, and at the risk of diminishing the importance of this particular ceremony, the organization gave a lot of awards to things that have received a lot of awards already.
For example, La La Land and Damien Chazelle won the feature film award, Miguel Sapochnik won the dramatic series award for his work on Game Of Thrones’ “Battle Of The Bastards,” and Becky Martin won the comedy series award for her work on Veep’s “Inauguration” episode. Luckily, the DGA Awards are structured in such a way that La La Land can really only win the one trophy, so the rest of the categories were a little more interesting.
Garth Davis won the first-time feature director award for Lion, Ezra Edelman won the documentary prize for O.J.: Made In America, and Tina Mabry won the children’s program award for Amazon’s An American Girl Story—Melody 1963: Love Has To Win.
