The Expendables co-writer is tackling The Wolf Man remake

Universal Pictures’ monsters universe will kick off in 2017 with an all-new The Mummy movie starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe, after which Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man and more will get their chances to frighten new generations of moviegoers. The latest lycanthrope outing has gained plenty of traction in the last year, with rumors swirling about the possibility of Dwayne Johnson in the hairy lead role. The project is currently sans director, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, it has picked up a new screenwriter. The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham has been tapped to rework Aaron Guzikowski’s script.

In addition to sharing screenplay credits with Sylvester Stallone, the Doom scribe is also writing Zombieland 2 and a new Mortal Kombat movie. Callaham also wrote the pilot for the Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, which Amazon just ordered to series. So maybe the newest iteration of the Wolf Man will be considerably less mopey.
