“We’re keeping it real at Carnegie Hall,” The Moldy Peaches said in a press release (via Consequence Of Sound). “It’s been a long 30-year adventure from our first show busking at the Mt. Kisco carnival to this soon-to-be sold-out concert on one of the world’s most celebrated stages. With tears of joy in our eyes, and rainbow melodies in our hearts, we’re giving our OG fans what they’ve been pleading for: a quiet show in a place with comfortable seats. We’re really grateful for those of you who’ve been with us since the beginning, and to the kids on TikTok for keeping our songs relevant. We’re happy to be back home in New York. We love you, peace.”
The Moldy Peaches first got together in the ’90s, ultimately releasing one self-titled album in 2001. Reflecting on their origins in conjunction with the release of The Moldy Peaches – Origin Story: 1994-1999 in 2021, Green told American Songwriter, “Me and Kimya, We met in this town and we both, you can tell from listening to The Moldy Peaches records, wanted to escape it. We harnessed music as a way to alter the reality around us and get out of our town, which we didn’t really even realize we were doing at the time.”
Speaking with The Guardian in 2023, Green called revisiting their old Moldy Peaches songs onstage “emotional time travel.” For Dawson, “They feel very much the same to me, they’re special little gems that I love. The only difference is that I don’t give a shit what some indie boy thinks of me,” she said with a laugh. “Now I’m like, God, those guys are such creeps.” Tickets for the Carnegie Hall show will go on sale here, first via artist pre-sale on Wednesday November 12th at 11:00 a.m. ET and then via general sale on Friday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. ET.
