The Secret of Secrets will once more follow expert in the somehow intrigue-filled (and fictitious) discipline symbology Langdon as he, according to Netflix’s press release, “races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist and her groundbreaking manuscript whose discoveries have the power to forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind.” That does indeed sound pretty darned secret, as far as secrets go, assuming that the story’s Prague boasts the requisite secret tunnels and puzzling pictographs fans are expecting.
Joining Spector will be Rebecca Hall as Langdon’s longtime love interest Katherine Solomon, whose specialty of “noetic science” is at least a real (if dubious) field of study. Also helping and/or menacing the duo will be newly revealed cast members Mamadou Athie, Ben Levi Ross, Anamaria Marinca, Richard Sammel, Elena Saurel. They’ll join the previously announced Cherry Jones, Corey Stoll, Rob Delaney, and Abby Lee in the series. Lost‘s Carlton Cuse, who knows his way into (if not satisfyingly out of) a mystery series will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer.
Based on Brown’s 2025 best-seller, this will be the fifth live action around-the-world go-’round for protagonist Langdon, most memorably (and lucratively) portrayed by Tom Hanks in the Ron Howard-directed The Da Vinci Code in 2006 and its sequels, 2009’s Angels & Demons and 2016’s Inferno. Langdon has gotten the non-Hanks TV treatment once before, with Brown’s novel The Lost Symbol, starring Ashley Zuckerman as Langdon, hitting Peacock for one season back in 2022.
