Tomato, tomahto: The Childrens Hospital team will now serve as Netflix's Medical Police
Not every bygone series deserves a revival, what with some stories just having already reached their natural conclusions. But then there’s Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital, which didn’t tell stories so much as it gutted the very fabric of TV storytelling. A show like that, we’d wager, could go on for just about forever, so it’s with delight that, two-and-a-half years since Childrens Hospital wrapped, we can report that the team behind the cult favorite is returning for a new series on Netflix. Called Medical Police, it reunites creators David Wain, Rob Corddry, and Jonathan Stern with Childrens Hospital denizens Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, and Ken Marino.
Per Variety, Medical Police will follow “two American physicians (Hayes and Huebel) stationed at a pediatric hospital in São Paulo, Brazil,” who “discover a civilization-threatening virus and are recruited as government agents in a race against time and around the world to find a cure and uncover a dark conspiracy.” The ambitious narrative, which sounds as if it will benefit from that sweet, sweet Netflix money, is set to unfold across 10 30-minute episodes.
