UPDATE: MTV worried that Skins could be considered child porn; Parents Television Council calls for federal investigation

MTV’s Americanized Skins has only aired one episode, but already executives are worried that its depiction of sexy high school sex may be a little too sexy, in a way that could violate federal child pornography laws. The remake of the British show—which also featured horny kids between the ages of 15 and 19 doing it and doing it and doing it well, but in a classy, British way—has already been censored by network executives, who excised a scene in its third episode featuring the naked ass of a 17-year-old actor, the same one whose plotline also apparently involves taking erectile-dysfunction pills, with hilarious results. (Naturally, the Parents Television Council has deemed Skins the “most dangerous program that has ever been foisted on your children,” so teachers, consider removing it from your lesson plans.) Of course, the entire purpose of Skins is to capture the veracity of high school existence, which is a non-stop bacchanal of casual drug use and even more casual rutting, so it’s the realism that will suffer most.

UPDATE: It appears MTV may have been right to worry, since Deadline reports that the Parents Television Council has now called on the Department of Justice to open a federal investigation into the show for "possible child pornography and exploitation." Yeah, something tells us that's not going to happen.
