Web-series-turned-TV-show Broad City opens door for further adaptations with live tour
Since launching in 2010, Broad City has taken the form of a web series, an occasional stage show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and a half-hour series currently airing on Comedy Central. Now comes the Broad City Live Tour, a sign that there’s no stopping Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson’s portrait of 20-something life in New York from turning into a book, a tie-in breakfast cereal, or a literal portrait of 20-something life in New York. Beyond a series of dates that begins March 4, details on the tour are minimal—though the number of rock clubs on the itinerary suggests that Glazer and Jacobson might end up putting their percussion skills to good use. Glazer and Jacobson will be on the road through April 5 (presumably not riding the Citi Bikes in the image above), at which point Broad City is free to morph into its next incarnation. Maybe it’ll be an alternate reality game in which Hannibal Buress drops by every 15 minutes to brighten your players’ days with a non sequitur.
