When broken down elementally, Chicago’s Wedding Dress has its core built around some of Chicago’s indie-rock elite, but that never means it has an urge to fulfill any expectations. Formed by Erin Elders of Maps & Atlases, and also featuring members of Joan Of Arc, Suns, and Gypsy Blood, Wedding Dress proves to be more than the sum of its parts. On “Loom”—which The A.V. Club is premiering below—the band cleverly subverts genre descriptors as it uses clanking percussion and ambient guitar overlays to slowly build toward an unexpected chorus.
