Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, May 24 to Saturday, May 30. All times are Eastern.
Spider-Noir (Prime Video and MGM+, Monday, series premiere) Film icon Nicolas Cage gets wrapped up in streaming’s web for his first lead TV role in this superhero noir, playing an aged, more grizzled version of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Cage’s Ben Reilly/The Spider is a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who gets pulled back into the dangerous world of vigilantism when a new case crops up and forces him to confront his past. Also starring Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson, the moody drama is being released in both black-and-white and color versions. Deli Boys (Hulu, Thursday, season two premiere) The Dar brothers are back! Mir (Asif Ali) and Raj (Saagar Shaikh) are all cashed-up after inheriting their late dad’s multi-million-dollar drug syndicate, but that dirty money comes with complications. Enter: Max Sugar (Fred Armisen), a shady casino magnate—and a potential love interest for Lucky (Poorna Jagannathan)—who helps the fellas launder those fraudulent funds. Elsewhere, a brewing gang war plus the attention of a Philly D.A. with mayoral ambitions (Andrew Rannells) spell trouble for the bros. The season 2 cast also includes Kumail Nanjiani, Lilly Singh, Robin Thede, and returning guest star Tan France. The A.V. Club’s review drops on Tuesday.
The Four Seasons (Netflix, Thursday, season two premiere) Spoiler alert: Steve Carrell is still dead. But the memory of his character Nick and the emotional fallout of that sudden loss still permeates the second season of this Netflix comedy, which finds his very-much-alive pals Kate (Tina Fey), Jack (Will Forte), Danny (Colman Domingo), and Claude (Marco Calvani) as well as Nick’s ex-wife Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver) and baby mama Ginny (Erika Henningsen) continuing their annual tradition of a big buddy vacation, this time to some stunning locales in Italy. Check out The A.V. Club’s review on Thursday.
