The biggies
Alien: Earth (FX, Tuesday, 8 p.m.)
The Xenomorphs come to Earth in Noah Hawley’s prequel series, which is set two years before Ridley Scott’s Alien. In the show, a Weyland-Yutani spaceship crash-lands on the planet, bringing various dangerous alien species with it. So Wendy (Sydney Chandler), a synthetic robot with human consciousness, and her ragtag crew set off to capture them before they cause destruction. The sci-fi drama’s ensemble also includes Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Alex Lawther, Babou Ceesay, and Samuel Blenkin. The A.V. Club will recap the series weekly.
Butterfly (Prime Video, Wednesday, 3:01 a.m.)
Lost‘s Daniel Dae Kim leads this spy series as a former intelligence agent who faked his death nine years back to protect his family. He returns to learn that his now-adult daughter (played by Reina Hardesty) has become a top assassin for his former organization. And together they must navigate a complicated reunion while trying to uncover a global conspiracy and evade people who are trying to kill them. Look for The A.V. Club‘s review of the show on Monday.
