Alex Jones has been in the news a lot lately thanks to his ridiculous behavior at a custody trial and his ridiculous behavior in everyday life, and now Greek yogurt company Chobani has apparently decided to take advantage of that and score some good PR by filing a lawsuit against Jones and his InfoWars website. According to the Associated Press, Chobani is suing Jones for a video he posted on April 11 that accused the yogurt company of contributing to a supposed rise in “crime and tuberculosis” near its plant in Idaho because it hires refugees. Jones and InfoWars also implied that Chobani was to blame for a totally unrelated incident where three refugee boys assaulted a five-year-old girl.
Of course, InfoWars didn’t actually “mention or prove” any connection between the assault and Chobani beyond putting “Idaho Yogurt Maker Caught Important Migrant Rapists” in the headline, but that didn’t stop other outlets from picking it up and convincing some customers to call for a boycott of Chobani. The yogurt company is looking for at least $10,000 from Jones and InfoWars, arguing that they specifically wanted to hurt Chobani with the story and that they have “ignored requests to remove the inaccurate coverage.”
The lawsuit also specifically calls out Jones’ history of “spurious statements,” including his assertion that the U.S. government planned 9/11 and that the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax. In other words, Chobani is ready to throw down.
