Young Statues’ new album streaming in full right now
In Philadelphia’s fertile music scene, Young Statues are an outlier. While most of the city is enraptured with punk and hardcore, the four-piece puts its focus on dreamy indie rock, trading in gut-level aggression for echoing delay and pitch-perfect choruses. The A.V. Club is streaming all of the band’s sophomore album, Flatlands Are Your Friend, which will be released tomorrow via Run For Cover Records. In many ways, Flatlands recalls a Transatlanticism-era Death Cab For Cutie, as Carmen Cirignano’s wounded vocals anchor choruses that are artfully crafted, yet big enough to shake stadiums.
