The announcement comes after Snyder posted a 48-second teaser for the film on his X account, which now has a fighting chance of finding a distributor now that it’s screening at one of the world’s most influential film festivals. More information is available on the official TIFF website, which features this new poster for the film.

Co-written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad (Rebel Moon) and described ambitiously by the director as his personal Apocalypse Now, The Last Photograph looks like Snyder’s going for a Terrence-Malick-does-first-person-shooter approach, with imagery shot in the director’s preferred shallow depth of field, rife with all the exploding heads, dripping blood, and ink-black shadows cut with fire one can handle. And indeed, per the festival’s announcement, the film’s star, Stuart Martin (Army Of Thieves) seems to be engaging in some similar descent into man’s heart of darkness: “Starring Stuart Martin, Fra Fee (Hawkeye) and Costanza Andrade (Game Over), the latest from Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, Man Of Steel) follows an ex-DEA agent seeking revenge in a South American jungle where dangerous terrain and inner demons intermingle.”
