The 2025 Peabody Award Entertainment nominations are here
Turns out the Peabodys like streaming TV just as much as the rest of us.

Classy to the core, the Peabody Awards are nice enough to roll out their nominations in two phases, so that viewers interested in the finest in news reporting and documentaries don’t have to slum it with the rest of us, who just want to find out if the august body likes the same TV shows and video games that we do.
Which, turns out, they kind of do: The nominations for the Entertainment branch of the 85th Peabodys, revealed tonight, are a pretty straightforward listing of many of the most critical beloved shows currently running. That includes ongoing awards show juggernauts like Hacks, Baby Reindeer, and Shōgun, as well as more rarefied stuff like PBS/Masterpiece series Mr. Bates Vs. The Post Office. One notable element of the noms is that the Peabodys are apparently as hooked on streaming as the rest of us: Network TV didn’t even show up once, with Netflix scoring 3 nominations (4 if you count the also-announced kids entertainment category), FX/Hulu another 3, HBO Max got 4, and Peacock just one (for We Are Lady Parts). (Also, as the person who assembled The A.V. Club‘s best games of 2024 list: Very exciting to see the extremely good 1000xResist crack the “Interactive & Immersive” category.)
