Hannibal Lecter, Audrey II, and the Blair Witch lead October's Blu-ray and 4K releases

To the surprise of no one, much of October’s physical media release calendar is devoted to things that go bump in the night. The arrival of spooky season brings with it a bunch of thrilling, chilling Blu-ray and 4K releases, including a beloved horror-comedy musical, the film that helped make “found footage” a thing, and one of Jim Carrey’s darkest, most underrated performances. Read on and find films from Frank Oz, Jonathan Demme, Ben Stiller, and more.

Little Shop Of Horrors 4K (Available on October 6, 2026)

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Frank Oz’s beloved horror-comedy musical, Little Shop Of Horrors is getting the remastered 4K treatment, complete with Theatrical and Director’s Cuts and new bonus content featuring the cast, filmmakers, and even the puppeteers behind Audrey II. The story of a sentient carnivorous alien plant has never looked so good, but if you’ve somehow never seen the (much darker) ending of Oz’s version, make that your first priority.

Death On The Nile 4K (Available on October 6, 2026)

Peter Ustinov makes a charming, if less-than-book-accurate Hercule Poirot in this 1978 version of Death On The Nile that’s widely regarded as one of the best Agatha Christie adaptations of all time. Boasting an authentic Egyptian location and a ridiculously stacked cast that includes Maggie Smith, Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, and Mia Farrow, the film is delightfully old-fashioned without coming off as dated. This edition includes a brand-new master from a 4K scan of the original camera negative, plus archival interviews with Ustinov and Jane Birkin, a making-of featurette, and an audio commentary by film historians.

The Blair Witch Project (Available on October 13, 2026)

Though it’s easy to mock some of the most excessive elements of The Blair Witch Project—the extreme closeups, the occasionally nauseating shaky-cam work—it’s difficult to overstate how groundbreaking the film was when it hit theaters in 1999. The origin of the “found footage” subgenre that would become so popular in the years that followed, it’s a movie that has certainly left a legacy no matter how you might feel about it as a horror film. This newly remastered Blu-ray set is set to celebrate its impact, with half a dozen new featurettes supplementing a festival cut restored from the original Hi8 videotapes and 16mm film elements.

The Silence Of The Lambs 4K (Available on October 20, 2026)

The Criterion Collection is celebrating the 35th anniversary of one of the greatest crime movies of all time with a restoration of The Silence Of The Lambs. Jonathan Demme’s film, which helped introduce popular audiences to serial killer Hannibal Lecter and swept the Big Five awards at the Oscars in 1992, has a long and storied legacy. Spawning three feature follow-ups and two television spin-offs, its long shadow is still impacting the genre as we know it today. The Criterion release is packed with extras, and let’s face it—that box art is gorgeous.

The Cable Guy 4K (Available on October 20, 2026)

Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick star in this underrated dark satire about a cable guy who gets a little too interested in the life of one of his customers, turning stalker. Carrey’s performance is a strange mix of mania and rage, and a big swerve from the primarily goofy comedies like Ace Ventura he was known for at the time. This 30th anniversary restoration comes in a fancy Steelbook and features a fresh conversation between Broderick and director Ben Stiller from the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival, among other extras.
