ABC just heard a great idea for a show about misfit party planners

A group of misfit party planners, constantly tempted and tormented by the fun they make possible through their own drudgery and humiliation, struggling to please their employers while also considering the path that they've chosen. It's an intriguing pitch for a comedy series, immeasurably aided by the fact that they already made it, it was called Party Down, and everyone really liked it. Nevertheless, it was on Starz and it was cancelled, so since its demise, the networks have been attempting to replicate the unique comic chemistry and cult appeal of Party Down by just making Party Down again, because they are the networks and ha ha, Starz.

In 2010, there were two Party Down ripoffs in development: ABC's Plan This, about a group of misfit party planners "to the stars" (and not to the Starz); and NBC's Party People, about a group of misfit party planners working the children's birthday circuit. And while both were presumably shamed out of existence, enough time has passed that now ABC is trying again with Party Girls, about a group of misfit party planners run by a goodtime gal who's "forced to reign [sic] in her wild ways," constantly tempted and tormented by the fun she makes possible through her own drudgery and etc. etc. The show was devised by 30 Minutes Or Less writer Michael Diliberti, Crazy, Stupid, Love's John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, Jack Black's production company, and by watching Party Down and saying, "What if we just put more dames in it?" followed by a round of high-fives and check signing.
