Last month, King, the creator of a highly addictive drug called Candy Crush Saga, tried to trademark the very word “candy,” arguing that there is no longer any candy on the planet that doesn’t remind you of how you got so worked up about level 30 at 2 a.m. that you paid the game five whole dollars just to make it go away.
