The Pitt gets nocturnal in first season 3 trailer

It seems the rumors and deductions are true: The Pitt is going dark. Well, it’s been pretty dark, both thematically and occasionally computationally. But the first teaser for the HBO Max series seems to confirm what fans have been expecting: This season of the medical drama will take place in the evening shift, as evidenced by Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) taking the reins and directing the “nightcrawlers” at the beginning of the clip.

Knowing how hectic a day in the Pitt normally is, it’s unsurprising that the night is just as bad, if not worse. Needless to say, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) picked a tough day to return from his motorcycle vacation (of course he was always going to come back), though it’s hard to imagine there was ever going to be a chill day to return to this workplace. Also back is Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), whose career was left on a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of season two. Based on how her story unfolded last season, it’ll still be a while before we find out what her current status is with the hospital.

It’ll be a while before we find out much of anything, in fact. The season doesn’t even have a release date yet beyond January 2027, but perhaps this trailer will help whet the appetite of Emmy voters, who have until Wednesday night to decide whether they want to name The Pitt the year’s best drama series once again.
