All the good Prince albums are getting re-released
As reported by Billboard, Prince’s estate has signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment to re-release Prince’s old albums, with the first wave coming from Legacy Recordings and covering the years from 1995 to 2010. That means albums like The Gold Experience, Emancipation, The Rainbow Children, Musicology, Planet Earth, and 3121 will soon be getting re-released (among several others). Billboard says the deal will also cover “previously released singles, B-sides, remixes, non-album tracks, live recordings, and music videos,” and in 2021 the re-release plan will cover “non-soundtrack catalog albums” released between 1978 and 1996 like Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, and Sign ‘O’ The Times.
This is all in addition to the ongoing plan to cut open Prince’s vault and sell everything of value, which means there will be consistent releases (and re-releases) of Prince content for years and years to come.
